Note. Proposed as a subspecies of Cypa decolor. Raised to species status by Jordan, 1931, Novit. zool., 36: 238. Synonymized with Cypa uniformis as a subspecies by Kitching & Cadiou, 2000, Hawkmoths of the World: 42. Reinstated as a species by Brechlin & Kitching, 2014, Entomo-Satsphingia, 7(2): 6.
Wingspan: 65--68mm. Larger than the very similar Cypa enodis Jordan, 1931; paler above and below. In female, ante-vaginal ridge and lateral submembranaceous portion of segment 8 less wrinkled, and the two sclerites of eighth sternite larger, smooth, more glossy (Bell & Scott, 1937).
