TAXONOMY

Amperophaga [sic] rubiginosa lohita Kishida & Yano, 2001, Trans. lepid. Soc. Japan 52: 278. Type locality: [Japan:] Kyushu, Kagoshima Prefecture, Yakushima I., Shiradani, Unsuikyo.

ADULT DESCRIPTION AND VARIATION

Forewing upperside similar to Ampelophaga rubiginosa myosotis but pattern of transverse lines and bands almost completely obscured by a general rusty-brown coloration. Dorsal line of abdomen extending to abdominal tergite 7, although increasingly faint posterior to tergite 4 (clearly extending to at least to tergite 7 in Ampelophaga rubiginosa rubiginosa and only as far as tergite 2 in Ampelophaga rubiginosa myosotis).
